Every day we hear about the importance of choosing products in earth-friendly packaging. We know that’s the right thing to do for the planet, and we want to do our part. So, what’s the hold-up? Is it really that hard to make all our packaging eco-friendly? Unfortunately, it is. It really is.

With no clear eco-standards in the U.S.A, and a lack of raw sustainable materials world-wide, companies that package food products, like Peri & Sons Farms, are finding it very challenging to quickly transition to earth-friendly, non-plastic packaging, even though we want to.
Decades of plastic-based packaging yield economies of scale that currently do not exist for new earth-friendly materials. New packaging materials are currently far more expensive to produce which necessitates higher prices all the way down to the consumer. We believe it’s a price worth paying, and we hope that our customers and consumers think so too.
Please know we’re doing everything we can to get there, but it’s going to take a little time. Together we can make a change for the better.
It’s very much appreciated to know we can have faith in the families we entrust our well being and healthy living to. The word is out with my friends and family whose label to look for when shopping for the thing we can’t do without -- Onions! Thank you again for your good work. -- C. Harris

Recently, through a series of little process improvements, every minute we are producing our consumer onion packs we’re saving 36 SQ FEET OF MATERIAL. That’s over 33,000 sq. feet per day of waste that won’t go into a landfill.
Our Gourmet Shallot and Cipollini packages are now 100% PLASTIC-FREE! These beautiful packs are BIODEGRADABLE AND/OR SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLABLE which is important for consumers who are concerned about plastic packaging and are seeking better earth-friendly options.
We’re exploring new all-paper options and ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIAL OPTIONS such as Bio-Able™ Solutions by Sev-Rend. With Bio-Able materials the plastic degrades to a molecular weight that can be consumed by microorganisms leaving behind NO MICROPLASTICS, in both marine and terrestrial environments.
Like you, we are working toward reducing our plastic footprint on the environment, so that people and our planet continue in good health.
